It used to be there was only one format for post production. Then there were three or four to deal with. Now, with the exploding multiplicity of digital formats, frame rates, and codecs, reconciling all the "footage" and finishing a program free of audio and visual artifacts has become technically complicated and increasingly costly. Find it all a blur?
In this program, panelists will make sense of the underlying principles of these variables so that producers and post-production professionals can best optimize their footage in post, and even prevent many of these complications before ever shooting.

Mickey has been in the post-production business for 25 years, through the evolution from editing film on a moviola, to linear tape editing, to having one of the first AVIDs in Washington, and now to Final Cut. Finding it difficult to keep up with the ever-changing digital technology as she hops around town as a freelance editor, she decided to gather three of the area's best experts to answer many of her questions, and those of her colleagues.
Mickey is one of the most sought-after editors in the DC area. Her credits include highly rated and critically acclaimed PBS shows like Nova, Frontline, Wide Angle and Nature, as well as diverse cable television programs for National Geographic, History and Discovery Channel, plus complex and visually dazzling multi-screen and 3-D presentations. Her string of awards includes three national Emmys, a Peabody, The Grand Award at The Jackson Hole Film Festival, The New York Film Festival Grand Award, plus a Clio.

Ben is a 20+ year veteran of video post production and interactive media production. He has worked as an expert technical consultant, an accomplished producer/editor, Director of Post-Production and Head of Facilities. His credits include award-winning programs & projects for The Discovery Channel, National Geographic, PBS, Schlessinger Media, The U.S. Federal Courts, The Department of Education, The National Gallery of Art and The National Institutes of Health. He has also received many awards including a George Foster Peabody Award, CINE, Telly, Monitor, and Peer Awards.
Virginia Quesada, Editor, Producer, Writer, and Founder at Q Media
Virginia's 25 years of experience includes work in all areas of media production: video; film; web and multimedia. Virginia’s skills include: editorial in AVID, FCP and Premiere; producing and writing; motion graphics; and post-production design and supervision. For more than 17 years, she has taught all levels of AVID Media Composer. She is currently an Adobe Certified Instructor teaching Adobe Premiere. Though primarily a storyteller, her admiration for the evolving technologies that support the media industry has increased her technical knowledge and her ability to translate technical ideas to others.
