Women in Film & Video produces more than 70 events per year, ranging from our community outreach programs to professional development to pure networking. We even find time to have fun! The programs, ranging from the technical to the theoretical, enable members to network, share knowledge and exchange ideas. We look forward to receiving your ideas for programs. Executive Series
WIFV hosts several events a year for our Executive Members, who have been in business for 10 years or more. These events offer intimate forums with prominent speakers.
Annual Media Job Fair
Each year, WIFV proudly presents the Media Job Fair. Jobseekers come out to meet with recruiters from media companies throughout the District of Columbia. The 2013 Media Job Fair wil be held on April 6 at the University of California, Washington Center. More info here.
ScriptDC
Presentations for writers, directors, producers, talent. Practice your pitch. Make your pitch. Have your script critiqued. Learn! Network! ScriptDC 2012 was held November 30-December 2.
Women of Vision Awards
These awards celebrate women's creative and technical achievements in media. The 2012 Women of Vision Awards recipients are Shirin Ghareeb, Director, Arabian Sights Film Festival/Deputy Director, Filmfest DC; Agnieszka Holland, Oscar-nominated Director; Margaret Parsons, Curator, Department of Film Programs, National Gallery of Art; and Christine Weber, Vice President of Production for Specials at Discovery Channel. The 2012 Awards were presented on November 29 at the Mayflower Renaissance Hotel in Washington, DC.
Wednesday One
Our Wednesday One program series serves as the foundation of the WIFV programming calendar. Held each year at various locations, these events are open to guests and potential members. Upcoming events are always posted in the calendar section of www.wifv.org.
Advisory Committee Dinners
The WIFV Advisory Committee hosts dinners in their homes in the Spring to bring the community together to discuss issues of shared interest and raise money for WIFV. This year's dinners will be held on May 3.
Annual Open House
Every Fall, WIFV welcomes its members back from the summer with an Open House. Members have a chance to catch up with one another, sign up for WIFV committees and get ready to jump into the busy season ahead. The evening is concluded with the annual meeting where plans are revealed for the upcoming programming year, which runs between September and June. The 2012 Open House was held September 5 at CDIA-BU in Georgetown.
Martini Madness
WIFV members regularly gather at local establishments for serious networking. Be on the lookout for more of these member favorites during the coming year.
Holiday Party
WIFV members come together to raise a glass to celebrate the year gone by and toast the one to come. The party draws a large and festive crowd.
WIFTI Short Films Showcase
Held during March, in honor of International Womens' Day and Women's History Month, Women in Film & Television International (WIFTI) chapters hold screenings of award-winning short films produced and directed by women.
