Joy Cheriel Brown just found out that her script, Prism Through a Rose-Colored Glass, was named a Second Rounder in the Drama Feature category for the 2026 Austin Film Festival Script Competition, which puts it at the top 25% of the 12,500 scripts entered.
Screenwriter and educator Brown has expanded her work helping writers develop and complete their screenplays. Joy teaches Scriptwriting at Howard University and recently completed a “Write a Screenplay in 10 Weeks” workshop with The Writer’s Center, where all six participating writers successfully completed feature-length screenplays.

She is now expanding her script consulting services to work individually with writers seeking professional guidance on story, structure, character, conflict, and screenplay development.
