Networking

Women in Film & Video DCNetworking

Networking is critical to building your support system and to getting hired!  WIFV provides a variety of networking events throughout the year and time for networking at each professional development program.  We even regularly provide a Networking for Introverts program.  We want you to be comfortable and recognized in this community!

Happy Hours and Coffees

WIFV members are gathering weekly online to get to know each other, form collaborations, and find crew.  When we can, we will gather at least once a month, in person for coffee or … The WIFV calendar is the place to see what networking is happening when.  Be on the lookout for more of these member favorites during the coming year.  We have regular coffees and happy hours for Reel Moms/Caregivers, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA mediamakers.

Film Club

The WIFV Film Club is open to all and another great way to build connections with fellow members of the film community. We meet on the third Monday of each month, from 7:30 – 8:30 pm ET.  After registering you’ll be emailed the Zoom login information. Then, watch (or re-watch) the film at your own leisure. Come prepared to share your likes, dislikes, and insights during a lively, unrecorded discussion. (What happens in Film Club stays in Film Club.)

Open House

Every Fall, WIFV welcomes its members back from the summer with an Open House. Attendees, including the general public interested in media creation, have a chance to meet one another, learn about upcoming professional development programming, member benefits, and upcoming plans.  The evening includes the annual meeting hosted by the WIFV Board.

Media Holiday Party

WIFV members come together to raise a glass to celebrate the year gone by and toast the one to come. The party draws a large and festive crowd.  Always held in January (what woman needs another holiday party in December?) we typically hold in person.

Advisory Council & Board Dinners

The WIFV Advisory Council and Board host dinners in their homes in the Spring to bring the community together to discuss issues of shared interest and network.  These are fundraisers to provide general operating support to WIFV.  We look forward to be able to hosting these in-person events again soon.
